This prized variety of black grape raisins hails from the sun-soaked vines of California. Royals stand out for their seriously supreme size—in fact, they're the largest variety of raisin on Earth. Royals have a gorgeous deep purple hue and a subtly spicy yet sweet, caramel-like taste. The skin of Royals is also notable for its pleasantly firm texture.

Produce 'Picks' of the week:

​

  • LOCAL 3lb Empire Apples for $4.95/bag. Empire Apples are bright red with faint white striations; its top is capped with a light green blush. It is a medium-sized apple and round with a creamy white interior. Its crisp and juicy flesh has a flavour that is sweet like a Red Delicious and tart like a McIntosh - so now you know what you are getting. 

 

  • The Navel Oranges from USA are something to brag about. Yes, they are $1.75 ea, but they are as big as a grapefruit and very juicy.

 

  • Organic Fennel is a highlight this week. $3.95 for a big bulb plus green tops.

​

  • LOCAL Organic Chantenay Carrots from Golden Acres Farm. Chantenay carrots are perfect for everyone – no need to peel, quick and easy to cook and they taste delicious! Almut says: "Once you start eating them you literally cannot stop until the plate is empty" Give them a try!

     

 

  • Organic Red Grapes from South Africa are still the only Grapes available at the moment. Sold in 400g clam shells. $8.75 each. California Grapes are not in season at this time. They will arrive in Feb/March​.

 

  • Did you get your Soup & Stew Vegtables yet? 2.2lb of mixed root vegetables. You get 5-7 assorted vegetables which will make you a great stew or soup.

FYI: Local Squash season is all but over. Only LOCAL Butternut Squash is left.
 


To all Food Box customer: So you are getting your Vegetables and Fruit delivered from us. Did you know that we are a "One Stop Shop"? Something else amazing happened 2 days ago: Our entire store got new light fixtures.
