From the Dairy Cooler:
New locally made Quark (from Mountain Oak Cheese, New Hamburg - we also carry their CHEESES) is back in the dairy cooler. Quark can be eaten salty or sweet, like yogurt or on bread or in dips. Here is what Wikipedia has to say:
Quark or quarg is a type of fresh dairy product made by warming soured milk until the desired amount of curdling is met, and then straining it. It can be classified as fresh acid-set cheese. Traditional quark can be made without rennet, but in modern dairies small quantities of rennet are typically added. It is soft, white and unaged, and usually has no salt added. It is traditional in the cuisines of German-speaking, Slavic and Scandinavian countries.
Finally, guess what arrived early in the week at the Store? The organic Garden Seed Display from Aimers. We left it in the box for now.
That is a sure sign that spring will come. Along with the organic seeds we will be selling 'Cow Pots' They are plant starting pots made from composted cow manure, just to wet your appetite. I will tell you more about it once the seed rack is set up.
Enjoy your week,
Almut
