Bulk Sale of the week:

 

 
- Organic Green Lentils (grown in Canada) reg. $3.61/lb  -  now $3.05/lb

- Organic Autumn Lentils (mixed blend of Lentils) reg. $4.04  -  now $3.45/lb

 

We have been encouraging you to try our new 2.2lb SOUP & STEW Veggies. You get 2.2lb or 5-7 assorted LOCAL root vegetables which will make you a great stew or soup.

 

Here is a heart-warming meal you can try: Cook the veggies you get in the Soup & Stew Veggies bag. According to a recent suggestion from a helpful customer, it is best to cook the Lentils, 1 cup (Green or Autumn), separately in pure water and then add them to the veggies. Apparently, they turn out more tender. This way, you can have a meal in 30 minutes for less than $10.00.

 

We do this a lot at our house!

 

 

 

Meat Sale of the week:

 

- Fenwood Organic Chicken Legs, reg. $6.60/lb  -  now $5.60/lb

 

 

 

 

 

 

Produce 'Picks' of the week:

​

 

• The first Asparagus for the year arrived today. It is not LOCAL yet (that will come in mid-June - dream on).

 

 

• Gorgeous Cauliflower again this week for only $3.95/head. 

 

• Broccoli came down even more in price, $2.95 now.

 

• 1lb Organic Mini Mix Peppers are the 'shiner' of the week. Only $5.75/bag

 

• Green Peppers are still worth mentioning. They look gorgeous in their display and average around $1.25 each.

 

• LOCAL Organic Chantenay Carrots from Golden Acres Farm. Chantenay carrots are perfect for everyone – no need to peel, quick and easy to cook and they taste delicious! Almut says: "Once you start eating them you literally cannot stop until the plate is empty" Give them a try!

 

• Organic Atulfo Mangoes are looking good this week. $1.95 each

 

• Organic Blackberries are the only Berries available right now. But they are looking very inviting.

 

• The Pineapples that came in today (from Costa Rica) are beautiful-looking.

 

• Organic Red Grapes from South Africa are still the only Grapes available at the moment. Sold in 400g clam shells. $8.75 each. California Grapes are not in season at this time. They will arrive in Feb/March​.

 

 

 

UPDATE: We are totally sold out of Ground Beef. The beef is being processed at our local butcher and will be arriving within the next 2 weeks. Thanks for your patience!

 

 

To all Food Box customers: The white Carrot-looking vegetable this week was a "Parsley ROOT". It offers superb flavour in any soup, stew, baked vegetables or stir-fry.
