Here are the Store News and Specials from Almut:

Produce NEWS:

- B.C. organic Anjou Pears are still in fashion this week - only 95 ȼ each. Available loose only (sorry, no more 3lb bags). "Juicy, sweet and mellow" describes the taste. The Anjou Pear shows no colour change during ripening. Simply ripen at room temperature.

- Alas, B.C. Braeburn Apples are finished for now. Apples still available from B.C. are: Ambrosia, Gala, Pink Lady and Fuji (they are on their way out within the next week as well).

- Organic Blackberries are the treat of the week. $2.95 per clam and looking gorgeous.

- The fruit deal of the week comes in a bag. An all-organic Dried Fruit Blend of Sweetened Dried Cranberries, Wild Blueberries & Tart Cherries. From Patience Fruit Company, Quebec, 196g for only $2.95 (dated June 19/19), regular $6.00/bag. Snack on it straight or with nuts or put on salads. Check the Bargain Corner for this product.

Veggie NEWS:

- Rainbow Chard from Georgia, USA. for $2.75/bunch.

Pfenning's Farm is partnering with Hillside Farm in Georgia to receive their harvest, while Georgia will receive our Ontario leafy Greens during the summer months. Pfenning's Farm is successfully working to build up a produce pipeline from the East Coast of the USA. The reason being: California is very far away, California is slowly running out of water and all of North America is putting their produce eggs into one basket. ….never a good thing...…

- "Cauliflower and Celery are tight this week as the cold, rainy weather hits the southern growing regions." Those are the news we hear from California, and they are reflective of the availability and pricing of the vegetables at the moment.

The CowPot and Seed story is still hot. Now is the time to plant your tomatoes and peppers.

- Seeds are $2.69 per pack, plus tax.

- We are selling 3 inch - 6 cell pots and individual 4 inch pots. All you need to provide is the potting soil.

- Also check out the Soil Activator Biofertilizer for richer soils and more vigorous plants. Composed of a blend of naturally-occurring soil microorganisms, and works well for indoor and outdoor plants - and YES, it's made in Canada!

Bread NEWS:

Little Stream Bakery from Perth, ON is back in our Store. We sell it frozen. We are selling their Protein, Buckwheat and Quinoa Loaf which are all GF (gluten-free). The Spelt Sesame Bread and Kamut Bread are not GF. We also sell a variety of their excellent Spelt Pastries.

Organic Baking Without Compromise!

Little Stream Bakery hand-crafts each loaf of its naturally leavened (no yeast added), stone-ground flour bread using only organically grown grains. Taste the difference that integrity and commitment to quality can bring!

March Break fills the kids with happiness (jury is out on the parents). Oh, the simple joy of knowing you have another 4 days ahead with no school! Ah, childhood...

Keep enjoying those rising temps, and remember, next week March 21st is the beginning of spring....

"In March winter is holding back and spring is pulling forward.  Something holds and something pulls inside of us too."  - Jean Hersey
