Here are the STORE NEWS and SPECIALS from Almut:
FRUIT NEWS:
- It is 'Avocado Haven' at Pfenning's this week. We have 2 varieties:
1. Hass Avocados buy 1 for $1.95 ea. - or buy 2 for $3.50 ($1.75 ea.)
2. Zutano Avocado - "The Light Choice" - $1.45 ea.
If you want to take your avocado fat content down a notch, big ol' Zutanos pack a pungent avocado taste (with the addition of a lighter, almost lemony top note) and a lighter, silkier texture than the creamy Hass.
STORAGE HINT: Keep them on your counter (at room temp) when hard, and you can hold them in a ripened state in the fridge for a certain time.
- Navel Oranges are prime this week. Buy 6 for $6.00!
VEGGIE NEWS:
- Ontario Butternut Squash is finishing up for the season (alas). Food Box customers will see one more 'Squash' in their Boxes coming up. We are selling Squash with minor imperfections at this point. The price is adjusted accordingly, from $3.50 to $5.50 ea.
- Cauliflower, Celery and Broccoli are back in the 'front seat'. The price and quality are right to buy these staple veggies this week.
- Green Peppers are Big and 'Bell' for $1.75 ea.
- Green Butter/Boston Lettuce is available this week. This Lettuce is a treat with its soft creamy leaves.
CHEESE FONDUE
Cheese Fondue from L'Ancetre is a new product in the Store. All you need is some veggies/baguette/olives. Melt the cheese gently, gather the crowd around and dip your morsels into the melted cheese. Not to forget the glass of wine and good stories. Cheese Fondue meals are slow food meals - so relaxing, fulfilling and enjoyable. A social event.
OUTLET NEWS (BARGAIN Corner):
- Not too much to say about this at the moment, other than Hersheys' Chocolate Chips - Chipits - which may interest some of you for your baking.
MAPLE SYRUP
It's THAT time of the year! Maple Syrup season is coming up.....spring is on its way.
If you are interested in fresh bulk Maple Syrup, we are again collecting your containers to have them filled by the 'grower.' We require your name and phone # on each container. Containers need to have a proper watertight seal for liquids and be at least a 2 L size (glass, plastic pail etc) with a large spout.
