Here are the Store News and Specials from Almut:

FRUIT NEWS:

- This week`s Apple is the locally grown Macintosh Apple - coming from Elmira. They are big in size and only $0.50 each. They make your heart skip with their shiny green and red cheeks.

 - Like we said last week, our local Peaches from Palatine Farm are slowly coming to an end. They have been picking the last variety and we hope to have them available for 2-3 more weeks.

Enjoy those Local Peaches while they last!

- Locally-grown Nectarines from Palatine Fruit Farm are here. Same price as the Peaches - $2.70/lb.

- Palatine Fruit also has baskets of Green Champaigne Grapes and Red Candice Grapes. They are seedless and each 3L basket is $13.95.

VEGGIE NEWS:

- Fresh Dill coming in for this week! When I see fresh Dill, I have to make a Potato Salad. $2.25 per bunch. Coming from Fertile Ground Farm, right close to St. Agatha.

- We are offering LOCAL Collard bunches in our produce section this week. $2.00 for a big bunch.

- LOCAL Leek has made its entrance. This vegetable usually stays around for a while. But I am thinking creamy Potato Leek Soup and get very hungry thinking about it (it`s almost dinner time anyway).

- Local Daikon Radish and Watermelon Radish are here to stay for the winter months. If you love Radishes, your season has just begun.

- You can always tell the fall season when the local Parsnips make their entry. We have them loose or in 2lb bags.

- And last but not least, the Local Parsley Root has landed at the Store. It is very often mistaken for a Parsnip - but it`s NOT!

This root has a flavour that is somewhere between carrots and parsley herb, giving it an earthy taste that makes it very versatile, both in cooked and raw form. It is also a storehouse of powerful nutrients with a significant potential to assist your overall health, reduce flatulence, improve skin, protect heart health, and strengthen the immune system, among other benefits.

Go ahead, try it!

MEAT NEWS:

We will have 2 more Fresh Chicken days on our list. Just mark in your calendar: Friday October 18th and Wednesday October 30th.

If you would like to put some organically raised Chicken into the freezer for the winter months, here is your chance. For $5.25/lb fresh pick up or $5.75/lb frozen.

Interested?? Call the Store to get on the 'Chicken List' - 519-725-4282.
