Hello from Pfenning’s Organic,
We are pleased to send out our STORE NEWS and SPECIALS update for March 20-26 -- the "beginning-of-spring update!"
As always, feel free to visit our Online Catalogue to see any items that are featured or on special at the top of the page.
Store Notes from Almut:
FRUIT NEWS:
- Very nice looking Blueberries showed up today - $3.25 per clam.
- The ONGOING fruit deal of the week comes in a bag. An all-organic Dried Fruit Blend of Sweetened Dried Cranberries, Wild Blueberries & Tart Cherries. From Patience Fruit Company, Quebec, 196g for only $2.95 (dated June 19/19), regular $6.00/bag. Snack on it straight or with nuts or put on salads. Check the Bargain Corner for this product.
Veggie NEWS:
- Cauliflower and Celery are still tight this week due to the weather in the southern growing regions. Availability and pricing of these vegetables is still a bit dicey at the moment.
- We did get Cauliflower this week for $6.95/head. Quality is very nice.
- The money saver this week are the LOCAL English Cucumbers. They come in little Mini Cucumbers for $2.15/lb (about 5-6 Cucs) or as 1 big English Cuc for $2.75 each.
- Local Carrots are officially done. When you see Pfenning's Carrots in other stores they are USA-grown and in Pfenning's bags. But.... our Store still carries LOCALLY-GROWN CARROTS, yeah! They are the 5lb Carrots bags for $7.50. There are some of 25lb Juicer Carrots left, and we are also selling Chantaney Carrots (the short & stumpy variety) from Golden Acres Farm.
- LOCAL Garlic is only available for about one more week - if you would like to stock up. You can use it for eating or planting, even now.
We already have IMPORT Garlic in the Store from Spain. The bulbs are a bit bigger, but - alas - not local.
Raisin SPECIAL:
- Organic Royal Autumn Raisins from California are on SALE for 25% off.
Keep enjoying those rising temps, and remember, today, spring 2019 is officially beginning with a full moon....and...
"Assuming spring showers stay at bay, sky-watchers in the Northern Hemisphere will get to see a cosmic triple play on March 20, as a “super worm moon” lights up the vernal equinox. According to astronomy website EarthSky.org, a full moon has not landed this close to the first day of spring since the year 2000, and the two celestial events won’t happen less than a day apart again until 2030."
Enjoy the night show, and a very Happy Spring to us all,
Almut
