Here are the Store News and Specials from Almut:

 

- The last FRESH CHICKENS are coming this Friday, December 7th.

 

Need a last minute fresh Bird?  They are $5.25/lb fresh, $5.75/lb if you want them frozen.

 

These Chickens are very tender and there are some pretty big ones to be had too - in case you are thinking BIG Christmas Chicken instead of Turkey.

Produce NEWS:

 

 

- For the festive season: Our Carnival Squash is on sale for $2.00 each. They are average 1.5lb in size.

 

The Carnival Squash is a cross between the sweet dumpling squash and the acorn squash. It's an attractive squash with a combination of orange, yellow, and green colors, depending on maturity.

 

The squash is nutty and sweet in flavor, much like a butternut squash. You only need to season it lightly with salt, pepper and a little butter. But feel free to sprinkle the squash with a little brown sugar or a drizzling of maple syrup before cooking. The baked squash takes less time, but the slow cooker is convenient if you need the oven for other dishes. Serve it as is or scoop it from the shells and mash before serving.

 

 

- 2lb Blue Potatoes are still available. The taste of Blue Potatoes has been described as rich and nutty, similar to the yellow flesh potato. Haven't tried them yet?

- Local Red Kale from Pfenning's Farm is still available - $2.75/bch. It has a deep purple colour and looks stunning in whatever dish you make. 

- Local Green Kale is also still available - $2.75/bch.

- Local Chantenay Carrots (the fat, tasty ones) are  $1.59/lb.

- We also have LOCAL Rainbow Carrots still on sale. They come in yellow, orange and purple colours.
 

 

- Imported California Romaine Lettuce is back. It looks very fresh and beautiful and you do not have to be scared of it! It is safe to eat. You have my word on it. 

 

- When preparing a dish of Lettuce, adding Red Radishes is an ideal upgrade. We have them this week for $2.75/bunch.

 

- Harmony Egg Nog is going strong. The ideal noble festive beverage. We sell the 1L glass bottles for $7.50.

Ingredients: organic whole milk, organic sugar, organic whole eggs, natural flavour, organic guar gum, carrageenan, salt, organic locust bean gum, natural colour, nutmeg, vitamin D3.

This Premium Organic Egg Nog is always Farm-Fresh, and comes to you from happy cows. It tastes unbelievably good!!!
