STORE NOTES from Almut:

Welcome back to all of you in 2020! We wish you a wonderful start and may this year be a Health, Happy and Prosperous year for everybody. Let's always work with and not against each other. The world is so full of everyone against everyone. From heart to heart, everything in this Universe is possible.

FRUIT NEWS:

- Blueberries from Peru (not LOCAL), very sweet and good quality - for $4.25/6 oz (or 170g).

- From B.C. we have Pink Lady Apples available in 3lb bags.

- Also from B.C. are the Anjou Pears in 3lb bags. There are about 10 to 11 pears per bag for $5.25.

- Mandarins from California are still a delight.

VEGGIE NEWS:

- Cauliflower heads - big and white are here in abundance - $4.25 each.

- Beet Bunches are available this week with gorgeous and fresh tops. Use the whole bunch from top to root.

- If you are craving a salad, the Green Leaf Lettuce this week is very beautiful.

- If you want to keep it LOCAL, we still have many Ontario grown items available. eg. Carrots, loose Beets, Rutabaga, Parsnips, Root Parsley, Celeriac Root, Potatoes, Cabbage and Nappa Cabbage, Squash, Mushrooms, Garlic, Onions (Manitoba), Daikon, Watermelon and Black Radishes, Sweet Potato and Pea Shoots.

That is a very impressive list. Remember the 100 Mile Diet and impact it had on our Local awareness? We should not let that awareness fall asleep, but practise LOCAL whenever possible. It is the only way to support our limping and ailing farming community here in Ontario.

- On that note, we are now offering the 1.5lb to 2lb mixed Soup & Stewing Veggies on our website. It will include a little bit of: Carrots, Cabbage, Potatoes, Celeriac Root, Parsley Root, Rutabaga and Leek or Onions.

Wash, dice and put in a pot, cover veggies with water, Add 1-2 cups of Lentils or Barley and you will end up with the most amazing "Stew". You will get a meal for a family for under $10.00! Ah yes, it's also vegan...
