We are happy to send out our STORE NEWS and SPECIALS update for October 17 - 23 ! It is a bit later than usual as we were unable to connect to the Internet yesterday evening due to a widespread cable outage.

Store Notes from Almut:
- Exciting News: the upcoming fresh whole Chickens! They will arrive on October 26th, that's next Friday and they need to be pre-ordered.
For $5.00/lb they range from 6-8lb size. Stock up that freezer. Think economically and practically! There is no need to complain that organic chickens are too expensive!

- Our 100% Beeswax Candles are now in stock. Made in Keslo B.C, family-owned and operated. All shapes and colours and sizes are available. Check out the website. There is a Candle Category. For colouring, the company in B.C. uses veggie-based dyes. The scented candles are made using beeswax and pure essential oils.
Produce NEWS:
There is currently not too much new to report on the produce end. We are moving into the "Root & Squash Season." A couple more serious night frosts and we will be saying good-bye to the field season.
- Local Pfenning's Cauliflower is simply stunning right now, and the price is coming down again. Still lots in the fields.
- Last call for LOCAL Pfenning's Lettuce (Red/ Green Leaf)! The season is winding down. But the quality is still very good and the heads are big and scrumptious.
- 25lb Juice Carrots from Pfenning's Farms experienced a price drop to now $30.00/bag.
- 3lb bags of Bartlett Pears from B.C. are here - $5.00/bag. You can also eat them green for a nice crunch, but a ripe, yellow-coloured Bartlett Pear is one of the creamiest fruits you can enjoy.
- LOCAL Watermelon Radishes have arrived for the season. They come in 1lb and 1/2lb sizes. In case you are new to this vegetable - it is a mild Radish with a bright, tasty, pink flesh on the inside.
- The Apples available right now are Gala, Ambrosia, Mac & Honeycrisp Apples. All are from B.C.
- Make sure to check out our Bargain Corner! Always lots of very interesting bargains to find there.
First day of Snow yesterday! Well, it didn't stay long. But still, there are too many veggies yet out there in the fields. Maybe we jinxed the weather by unpacking all those Christmas/Beeswax candles today.
