Hello from Pfenning’s Organic,
We are happy to send out our Basket Contents update for August 20/21 !
Don't forget: Order Deadline is Saturday at noon!
You may also prefer to shop directly from our Online Catalogue.
Here are the Store News and Specials from Almut:
FRUIT NEWS:
- LOCAL Fruit from Palatine is now available. Last call for Apricots! Peaches, and Yellow Shiro Plums and other Plum varieties are just starting.
- To get your Niagara Fruit from Palatine, contact Heather, the Fruit Girl, at her email: [email protected].
VEGGIE NEWS:
For Vegetables available at the Store, I have to say: everything but the Celery and Carrots is now available locally. So many choices! Please enjoy the wide variety, be brave and try out a new recipe with a new vegetable you never tasted before.
- Field Cucumbers are in high season - $0.50 each. If anyone is interested in Pickling Cucumbers, they are $15.00 for 1/2 bushel. Please pre order.
- Sweet Corn is here to stay for a while. Steamed first, then rolled in butter wit a tad of salt, and my mouth starts to water.
- Local Squash is here to stay until December or longer. Buttercup, Acorn, Spaghetti and Butternut are at your call.
- Just heard form the Pfenning Farm that they harvested their first Onions. They will be in our Store soon. Local Carrots are not too far away either!
Don't forget to check out our always interesting Bargain Corner!

- Olive Oil (500ml Phoeapolis) is still on sale - 2 for $16.00. It is a very mild and smooth Olive Oil, great for salad dressings, mayos or pesto (dated Oct. 2019).

_________________________________________
It was a genuine pleasure to see many of you on our first delivery run after our two week break. If you have not yet done so, take a minute to read our Newsletter which gives you a brief impression on our travels. One thing which came to us in the meantime is that in Germany there is much less processed and pre-packaged food available than here. People seem to prepare their meals much more from scratch and are far more on the move. People walking or cycling to run their errands were a very common sight.
Just a few more impressions from the "old country."
Great to be back and at your service again,
Wolfgang
