FRUIT NEWS:

 

- The organic Clementines from Spain are a special treat this week. Very juicy and sweet - sold by weight, but about 60 cents each.

 

- Tommy Mangoes are in season. Let them ripen on your counter until slightly soft when squeezed. You will be rewarded with a sweet and juicy experience - $2.25 each. 

 

- Navel and Valencia Oranges are showing all the quality of a perfect citrus fruit: "Juicy and sweet!" We are selling each for $1.25 or 3 for $3.00.

 

 

Veggie NEWS:

 

- Local Asparagus are in the starting blocks - not quite available YET!!! 

 

- Green Kabocha Squash is a new variety in the Squash department. They average $4.75 each.

 

- Green and Red Leaf Lettuce from California have arrived today. The heads are heavy and tender and will make a nice Bowl of salad - $2.95each.

 

- FYI: Local Yellow Potatoes are almost finished. If you like them, buy them now. We have minimal 5lb bags left, but lots of 3lb bags available.

 

 - The Russet and Red Potatoes are still available for a while yet.

 

 

 

 

Fishy News!

 

- We received a FRESH FISH order today.

Here's what we got: Rainbow Trout (farmed in Georgian Bay), Lake Trout and White Fish both from Georgian Bay, certified Organic Salmon from Norway and wild caught Haddock from Iceland.

 

We package the Fish at the store and freeze it right away. Today, Wolfgang was helping with the pricing. He came home early from his Wednesday delivery so we put him right to work.

 

 

Upcoming Chicken News:

 

- On June 26th we will receive our first fresh WHOLE CHICKENS for the year. They are $5.25/lb and come from our usual farmer not far from here. They are raised like a chicken should be raised: lots of space to roam, green grass to pick and sunshine on their back.

 

Call the Store - 519-725-4282 - if you want your name to be on the CHICKEN LIST. Pre-order is a must!

 

 

 

BEAN NEWS!

 

A new Bean on the block is the Canadian-grown FAVA Bean. It is $3.29/lb.

 

Fava Beans are high in fiber and contain folic acid, potassium and magnesium. These versatile legumes can be eaten alone or added to other dishes. Wash dried fava beans thoroughly, soak them, and remove their skin before cooking them.
