Store Notes from Almut:

FRUIT NEWS:

- Tommy Mangoes are still in season. Let them ripen on your counter until slightly soft when squeezed. You will be rewarded with a sweet and juicy experience - $2.25 each. 

- Organic Cantaloupe have arrived - $4.50 each. A long weekend fruit salad treat: Cantaloupe, Mango, Blueberries and Strawberries all peeled, cut and diced. Put over Kefir or Yogurt, or eat alone. Yummy!!!

- Organic Anjou Pears and Bosc Pears from Argentina are available this week $1.25 each. 

Veggie NEWS:

- Local Asparagus are in the starting blocks - coming this weekend, but not physically in the store yet.

- Green Kabocha Squash is a new variety in the Squash department. They average $4.75 each.

- Fresh Dill Bunches are available (not local just yet). Oohh, they smell so wonderful, I wish I could push a scent sample through your screen. This calls for egg salad with fresh dill, or potato salad with fresh dill. So many options...…!

- Local Yellow Potatoes are almost DONE! If you like them, buy them now. We have some 5lb bags left and still some 3lb bags available.

 - Red Potatoes are still available for a while yet.

Upcoming Chicken News:

- On June 26th we will receive our first fresh WHOLE CHICKENS for the year. They are $5.25/lb and come from our usual farmer not far from here. They are raised like a chicken should be raised: lots of space to roam, green grass to pick and sunshine on their back.

Just in time for the real spring to set in, we would like to welcome Lisa at the Store, our new full-time employee!

So now that spring has decided to finally make its serious entrance, we will be spending more time outdoors, working that garden, eating and drinking and being merry - and this weekend maybe with some fireworks. The frogs have begun croaking again, the birds are competing with their melodious songs, the muddy earth is beginning to dry out, vibrant green and burgeoning wildflowers are all around us. Ah, blessed spring!
