Store Notes from Almut:

FRUIT NEWS:

- Need Palatine Fruit by the 1/2 or full bushel? We switched our supplier to Andrea from Brookfront Farm: [email protected]

- Starting this week, Pfenning’s Organic and More in St Agatha will be a pick up point for all Niagara Fruit!

Here are all the ordering, pick up and payment details:

1. Simply send Andrea an email to get on her list. She will get back to you with what's available and with prices.

2. You can pick up at Brookfront Farm Store on Friday 12-6 and Saturday 10-4 -- OR you can pick up at our Pfenning's Organic & More Store on Friday 9-8 or Saturday 8-5. You need to specify in the email to Brookfront Farm where you will be picking up.

3. Payment when picking up at Pfening's Organic & More is by cash or Interac e-Transfer.

 

- For Tuesday pick up at Pfenning's Organic & More Store in St. Agatha, you can still order from the "Good Peach."

After all these instructions, back to the good part: we are now into the free-stone Peach season. 

- Local Blue Plums from Palatine Farm. They look a little like Prune Plums. Sweet and easy to pit. 16 plums will give you 1lb.

... and other Plum varieties are just starting.

- Our first B.C. Apples - Sunrise Apples - come in 3lb size for $6.25/bag. Sunrise apples are best for snacking, but their crispness makes them great for baking.

VEGGIE NEWS:

- LOCAL Pfenning's Carrots grown in New Hamburg are here. Coming in 2lb, 5lb bags and 15lb Juicing size.

- Still a good time to get Eggplant, They are in season and the price is right! 

- 2lb LOCAL Beets from Pfenning's Farm are available now.

- Local White Onions have arrived - and I wait all year for those juicy and sweet big White Onions. They go well with anything involving Tomatoes.

MEAT NEWS:

- Our next fresh "Chicken Run" will be on Sept. 25th. The sign-up list will be out shortly and as we come closer to the date we will remind you more frequently.

SOME STORE SPECIALS:

- This is the last week for our Summer Steak Sale. All Steaks - 30% off regular price.  T-Bone, Blade Steak, Rib Steak until September 1st, then the price will go back up to regular.

- A new Fenwood Organic Chicken order just came in. All the cuts are back in stock. Particularly the Chicken Thighs. Thanks for your patience, whoever was waiting for them to come in.

All you mothers out there: So summer is almost over and the kids are soon back to school, and we are scrambling to get our food prep organized and whipped back into shape. From years of heading into that same challenge, may I suggest: Keep calm, keep the food simple and nutritious and don't feel guilty when you cheat once in a while. Just make sure to keep the veggies in your menu plan. The more the merrier.
