Store Notes from Almut:

Bulk Sale of the week:

- Organic Red Rice reg. $4.97/lb  -  now $3.95/lb

Red rice is a special variety of rice that is red in colour because it contains anthocyanins. It is generally unhulled or partially hulled rice which has a red husk, rather than the much more common brown rice. Red rice has a nutty flavor, and a high nutritional value, as the germ of the rice is left intact.

- Organic Lundberg Sushi Rice reg. 4.06/lb  -  now $3.45/lb

With just the right amount of stickiness and natural sweetness, this rice is perfect for California style rolls. Also suitable for rice salads and other Asian dishes. In our house an absolute favourite!!!
 

Meat Sale of the week:

- 'Field Gate' LOCAL Bacon reg. $12.75/lb  -  now $10.85/lb

• B.C grown Empire Apples in 3lb bags are the highlight of the week. $6.95 each.

• Hot House Tomatoes from Ontario arrived today with exceptionally good quality and taste. $1.95 each Tomato the size of your hand.

• ​Locally grown Beet Tops from the Organic Oasis greenhouse. $3.75/bunch

​

• We are still in the LOCAL Carrot business. The favourite being the Chantenay Carrots from Golden Acres Farm.

• ​The Asparagus which arrived today is looking very nice. $6.25/lb. The bunches are 1lb in size.

• We do have even more affordable Cauliflower again. The price is $4.95 each.

• LOCAL English Cucumbers from the Leamington area are $3.75 each.

Exceptionally, we are off to the Scandinave Spa in Blue Mountain tomorrow, celebrating 27 wonderful years with my better half and business partner, Wolfgang. How time flies when you are having fun selling and delivering the best food in 'town'.
Many customers made the journey with us (starting in 1993 as a little Farm Store on the Pfenning's Farm) and we are looking forward to continuing the journey with all of you.
