Store Notes from Almut:

FRUIT NEWS:

- 2 new Apples from B.C. arrived today: Braeburn Apple and Nicola Apple. Both are very nice eating Apples.

Braeburn Apples have a combination of sweet and tart flavour. 
Braeburn Apples are useful in cooking in that they hold their shape and do not release a great deal of liquid making them ideal for tarts.

Nicola Apples are crispy and sweet to eat. They are a cross between the 'Splendour' and 'Gala' varieties created at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre (PARC), Summerland, B.C. - a truly Canadian Apple!

- Beautiful Mangoes arrived today. They are blushing because they know how pretty they are. Their colours in the skin range from red to yellow. I can't wait for those babies to soften up.

VEGGIE NEWS:

- Broccoli is back! It came off its $8.00 a piece horse and is now only $3.95 each. Back on the menu for us!

- We are having a truly "Nutty Sale" right now!! It is Butternut Squash time. We are selling them by units this week:

1.5lb size for $1.50 each

2.5lb to 3lb size for $2.50 each

4.5lb to 5lb size $3.50 each.

You choose how much soup or baked Squash you want to make and order the size you need.

- LOCAL Carrots are priced at their all time low. Pfenning's Farm had a bumper crop of a carrot season. Carrot soup is on the menu in my house.

EGG NOG !!!

A treat for the season is the Harmony Eggnog. It is here ONLY until Christmas. Indulge by adding a tad of rum for an after-dinner treat (Wolfgang's favourite).  If you need any delivered in your Boxes - please pre order!

Check out the Bargain Corner. A few new items have been uploaded.

It was a bit of a wake-up call to realize that it's only about 5 weeks till Christmas. All the decorative lights going up all over are helping to get one into the spirit of the season.
