STORE NOTES from Almut:
Almut and our 3 teenagers just came back from 3 days of skiing at Blue Mountain. We laughed and played in the snow to the fullest, cooked all organic food from scratch in our tiny kitchen in the condo, and slept like babies after a whole day outside on the slopes. Having just come back I am a bit out of the 'produce loop' so to speak and will keep it very short this week.
FRUIT NEWS:
- Organic Dates - Mazafati - from Iran. Creamy with a fudge like texture that melts in your mouth. A truly delightful treat.
- Red Grapes from South Africa - $7.02/lb are still a tasty treat this week.
- Satsuma Mandarins from California are still a tasty citrus treat this week.
VEGGIE NEWS:
- Broccoli is back for $4.95 per bunch.
Still no Tomatoes? Here is the story: Tomatoes have been unavailable due to heavy rains, flooding and cold in the growing regions of Mexico (which is also affecting cucumbers and zucchini... with the inevitable higher prices).
Farming is not without its challenges, even in Mexico and California!
OUTLET NEWS (BARGAIN Corner):
- Our Bargain Butter section is still loaded with all sizes and shapes. Check it out. Salted, Semi Salted, Unsalted, Organic - we have it all.
- L'Ancetre Mild Cheddar 325g is still on Sale for $5.75 each. Regular $10.75.
- Jordan's 'Morning Crisp Cereal - Bursting With Nuts' (dated May 3rd) is still back for $4.50/500g.
That's it for this week. More next week in a brand new month!
Have a good start into February,
Almut
