FRUIT NEWS:
- Bartlett Pears from B.C. are back. We are selling by unit for $1.25 each.
- Beautiful Blueberries and Raspberries came in today - $4.50/500 for 6oz or 170g. Very good quality!
- Cranberries are also still in season. Fresh from Quebec for $3.75/bag. Nothing easier than making your own Cranberry jam or sauce. The recipe is right on the package. Don't forget the Orange in your recipe.
NOTE: If you need large amounts of Cranberries for your mega-Christmas party, we have My Compliments Cranberries on SALE for $1.00/lb (in the Bargain Corner)!
VEGGIE NEWS:
- Our Snap Peas from California are simply gorgeous. We could not stop eating them raw at the Store today (we still have some left...). Crispy, crunchy and sweet.
- Broccoli is down to an unbelievable $1.95 per bunch. Let's take advantage of that vegetable before the pendulum is on the upswing again.
As we told you last week, we bought the last 192 bunches of LOCAL Green Kale from Pfenning's Farm in New Hamburg. Now we are down to 96 bunches. Food Box customers will see Green Kale in their boxes coming week again. If it is too much Kale for you to handle:
- wash Kale, pull the Greens off the stem, chop into preferred size, put into zip-lock bag and freeze. Now your Kale is ready to use for cooking or smoothies.
- Our "Nutty Sale" is still on!! It is Butternut Squash time. Sold by units:
2.5lb to 3lb size for $2.50 each
4.5lb to 5lb size $3.50 each.
Just choose how much soup or baked Squash you want to make and order the size you need.
CHRISTMAS BAKERY
Our Stickling Christmas baking is now available.
Enjoy the Stollen, Spitzkuchen or Fruit & Nut Cake, Vanilla Crescents (already sold out), Lebkuchen or Printen.
Here are some of the Ingredients:
Organic unbleached wheat flour, organic raisins, fresh butter, organic cane sugar, almonds, lemon & orange peel, organic palm fruit oil, eggs, rum, sea salt, yeast.
Fruit & Nut Cake (wheat-free):
Ingredients: Raisins*, apple, apricots, prunes, figs, pears, dates, almonds, hazelnuts, lemon and orange peel, spelt flour*, rye flour*, honey, rum, sea salt, yeast.
* Organic
Honey, unbleached wheat flour, rye flour, brown sugar, malt syrup, molasses, currents, lemon & orange peel, spices, baking powder, may be covered in chocolate.
All of the above go very well with Harmony Eggnog.....
BREAD NEWS:
For the Gluten-Free world: All the GF Little Northern Bakehouse Breads are on Sale for $5.00 each. They are GF, egg-free, 100% plant-based.
Our Store has been closing down between Christmas and New Year's for the last 21 years. It is the one time in the year where I (Almut) just want to stay home and hibernate, enjoy my home, spend time in the kitchen cooking, listen and talk to my teenage children, clean the house, this year I am planning on painting some walls in our basement, and read all the books that are on my "read" pile. Some days I might even just sit in front of a puzzle for hours and hours.
It's the time of the year where I consciously try to step outside of my daily hamster wheel of work.
This year our staff, Anna, Andrea, Kacy, Aurélie (our youngest daughter), Wolfgang and myself, will have 12 days to experience finding our centre of stillness.
Our last open Store day is Saturday, Dec. 21st from 8-5pm. We will be closed from Dec. 22nd to Jan 2nd. First day open is Friday, Jan. 3rd from 9am to 8pm.
If you need any special Harmony Milk either for Friday, Dec. 20th or Friday, Jan. 3rd, please let us know.

Thanks again to all of you conscientious customers who left out your blankets and coolers this morning. Feels very wholesome to snuggle up your goodies in a blanket or sleeping bag for you to unwrap safe and sound a bit later.
