Store Notes from Almut:
FRUIT NEWS:
We mentioned it last week, but just to make sure you get it !!!
- Need Palatine Fruit by the 1/2 or full bushel? We switched our supplier to Andrea from Brookfront Farm: [email protected]
- Starting this week, Pfenning’s Organic and More in St Agatha will be a pick up point for all Niagara Fruit!
Here are all the ordering, pick up and payment details:
1. Simply send Andrea an email to get on her list. She will get back to you with what's available and with prices.
2. You can pick up at Brookfront Farm Store on Friday 12-6 and Saturday 10-4 -- OR you can pick up at our Pfenning's Organic & More Store on Friday 9-8 or Saturday 8-5. You need to specify in the email to Brookfront Farm where you will be picking up.
3. Payment when picking up at Pfening's Organic & More is by cash or Interac e-Transfer.
- For Tuesday pick up at Pfenning's Organic & More Store in St. Agatha, you can still order from the "Good Peach."
After all these instructions, back to the good part: we are now into the free-stone Peach season. They are the best canning and freezing peaches. There are only 2 more varieties of peaches to come before the season is over.
- More B.C. Apples arrived today. The Akane Apple - now available in the store in 3lb bags. It's slightly tart, so great for baking and desserts!
- Also from B. C. are the 3lb Bartlett Pears for $6.95 bag.
VEGGIE NEWS:
- We now have 25lb Juicing Carrots available from Pfenning's Farm. They are $28.00/bag.
- Still a good time to get Eggplant, They are in season and the price is right!
- 2lb LOCAL Rutabagas are here for the rest of the year. Baked Veggies, here we come!
- In the Squash department we are welcoming the Sweet Dumpling, Delicata and Buttercup Squash.
- LOCAL Spinach bunches are back. Without the scorching heat, the leaves are plump, large and dark green. And the Pfenning's Farm bunching team (Desmond, way to go!) does a superb job in the size and quality of the bunches. 3 thumbs up!
- 5lb Potatoes from P.E.I. are available in the colour Yellow and Red. They are $7.25/bag. Ontario Potatoes need to do a little more growing before they can be harvested.
MEAT NEWS:
- New from Fenwood Farms are the organic Chicken Drumsticks - 4 drums (around 1lb) per package, $7.45/lb.
- Our next fresh "Chicken Run" will be on Sept. 25th. Please sign-up on the Chicken list if you are interested. They are $5.25/lb. The best tasting chickens you will ever have. CALL THE STORE: 519-725-4282, or order on our site.
- Fresh Turkeys for Thanksgiving? We have 14 Turkeys available. If you are interested, sign up ASAP to avoid disappointment.
